Fragrance has always played a huge role in my memory. More so than music, food or touch ever has. A smell can instantly take me back to my first trip to Disneyland or Lake Tahoe or my grandmother’s kitchen. I had a scent made at Jo Malone Windsor when I was at Oxford that still makes me think of the magic of the town.
A few of my favorite fragrances right now are California scents and I heart them.
California Road Trip
California Dream by Louis Vuitton– I bought this on a whim having never smelled it solely based on how pretty the bottle was. I was so happy when it arrived and smelled incredible. A blast of fresh mandarin blends into vanilla for a fresh rich smell. This recalls summer nights at the beach for me. A bit more SoCal and beach town heavy if you have ever road-tripped through the orange fields of California and ended up at the beach this perfume will bring back every memory. I regret not getting my bottle engraved. But, I do LOVE that it is refillable in select Louis Vuitton stores! Luxury and sustainable–yes, please! $265 for 3.4oz (size shown) or $390 for 6.9oz.
Days at the Beach
Clémentine California Cologne Absolue Pure Perfume – I discovered this gorgeous cologne at Sephoria last year. Atelier Cologne had a super fun booth to promote this, their new scent. It was love at the first smell but it took me over a year to purchase it. I kept going back and forth. Finally, I caved and haven’t looked back. The scent is fresh and brings feelings of spring turning into summer. I love the burst of fresh florals and citrus. This is the perfect daytime fragrance. $140 3.3oz.
MAISON FRANCIS KURKDJIAN A La Rose – I hate roses so when Cos Bar sent this over I didn’t even plan on taking it out of the box! So glad I did. This fresh floral and orange scent is sexy! I love this one for date nights out. Damascena rose from Bulgaria, bergamot from Calabria, and orange from California blend to make the prettiest scent that reminds me of nights at the ballet in San Francisco and long weekends at the Ritz Carlton SF! $275 70ml.
