7 Simple and Easy To Do Steps To Improve Skin

As an esthetician, I’m asked all the time how to improve skin. The first step in improving your skin is to take care of yourself. This includes eating right, getting enough rest, and exercising regularly. Depending on your goal and what that looks like for you my recommendations vary but almost always include these 7 steps to improve skin. They are easy to follow but make a huge difference in the appearance of the skin.

7 Steps To Improve Skin

  1. Drink lots of water – this seems to go without saying but makes a huge difference. Water works wonders on our whole body skin included. Drinking water helps keep your body hydrated, which will help with your skin’s appearance. It also helps flush out toxins and waste products. Try starting by drinking a cup of water before each meal.
  2. Eat a balanced diet – again this seems simple but I find it the hardest for people to follow including myself! Sugar or processed foods are going to wreak havoc on your skin and the older you get the worse it will be. If you want to see results, start by eating right. Make sure you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and healthy fats. Try starting by swapping your snack each day with a cup of berries and raw almonds.
  3. Exercise regularly – a good sweat goes a long way. Hormone imbalance is tough on the skin. Exercise helps keep that in check. Try going for a 15-minute walk each day after your heaviest meal.
  4. Get enough sleep – Sleep is where our skin rebuilds and your body boosts blood flow to the skin while you snooze, which means you wake to a healthy glow.  Try going to bed each night 15-minutes earlier or starting a sleep time ritual.
