Retinol is by far one of my favorite ingredients. It helps with so many different concerns from aging, fine lines & wrinkle, to acne, and discoloration. I use a retinol cream every night and love the immediate difference I saw on my skin. Here is the product I use… but there are a ton of others on the market. I like this one because it acclimates very easily. Do your research and make sure the product actually has enough retinol in it to do some work… otherwise, it’s just a waste of money. On the other side be careful of a product with too much Retinol or flaky skin, redness and irritation can occur.
How to Slowly Acclimate To Retinol with Little To No Side Effects
Start by applying a pea-size amount of retinol OVER your moisturizer twice a week.
After two weeks, if your skin is showing signs of tolerating retinol, up to every other night. Still over your moisturizer.
After another two weeks, start applying your retinol under your moisturizer.
After two weeks, up to every night, under your moisturizer.
After six months, talk to your professional about upping your dose to a stronger formula
If you start to flake or peel just move back down to the previous step or place your moisturizer under the retinol and try again in two weeks.
