I get clients everyday that think they have sensitive skin.  When it turns out they really have dehydrated skin.  There is a difference.  Sensitive skin burns, turns red, can’t tolerate most products and gets dry or flaky.  Dehydrated skin will get dry or flaky.  It can tolerate most products but they need to be introduced slowly.

Here are a few of my favorite items for sensitive skin.

Skin

Cleansing oils and balms are perfect.  They give a deep clean without stripping or drying skin.  A silk pillowcase will also help skin from irritation at night.  Plus these muslin cloths are perfect an exfoliation that is lite enough for sensitive skin.

Body

If you have sensitive skin it usually applies to the body.  Try dry brushing before a shower and using a gentle PH balanced body wash.  After the shower try applying a gentle body oil while your skin is still damp.  It will keep the skin soft and hydrated all day.  This Elemis salt scrub is gentle and a teaspoon is all you need to do the entire body.

Hair

Coconut Oil is so soft and gentle on the skin and hair.  I recently discovered this coconut shampoo from RenPure that is super gentle and hydrating for my hair.  The coconut hair mask is AMAZING.  The other day I did a tutorial on Snapchat (HauteBeautyBLog) where I started with this mask.  I left it on for about 3 hours wrapped in a shower cap and heated with a warm towel a few times.  After that I shampoo out with the Renpure Coconut Milk shampoo and conditioned.  After my hair was so soft and my scalp wasn’t itchy or dry.

Nails

I love the Deborah Lipmann for my sensitive hands and cuticles.

I don’t have traditional sensitive skin but seasonal dehydrated skin.  Some of these products I use on myself and other are things I pass on to clients to help with their true sensitivities.

Let me know if you have any questions or need a skin care suggestions!

About Me

I started Haute Beauty Guide in 2008 as a way to stay in touch with my skincare clients between appointments. At first, I only covered skincare but HBG grew with me as my life evolved— from traveling around the world, heading back to college after taking a long break, buying our first home, to getting my first gray hair! Monterey is my home and I take the lifestyle here to heart.

Vitamin c and SPF go together like cookies and mil Vitamin c and SPF go together like cookies and milk—they just make each other better. Vitamin C helps neutralize free radicals and protect the skin. When vitamin C and spf are used together skin has boosted protection from UV rays. Vitamin C is a skin booster, brightened and helps even skin tone. SPF protects from further damage allowing Vitamin to work on older damage.

The texture of this new @supergoop Daily Dose is gorgeous. It absorbs quickly and leaves behind a soft glow. Trust me this is going to be your go to product as we all start heading outdoors again.

If you are concerned about hyperpigmentation, sun damage or uneven skin tone then this one is a winner.
